Well then, there can't be many that can say they've played The Mechanics Institute in Eyam (pronounced "eem") but Rio 5 can now add that to their CV. A 70's themed fancy dress night to help raise funds for a playground for the school and everyone (including some of the band) got into the swing of things with flares and mini skirts and mullet wigs... check out www.riofive.co.uk for the photos. The night raised well over £500 and we were happy to play our part. :-) We'd like to thank Gill for the food, the YTS lads for fetching and carrying (beer mainly) and Johnathan for providing a fantastic light show.
The next gig is Valentine's Night at The Oak. We'll see you there!

What a couple of nights almost got a bit of voice left .A Full house at the county and what can I say about the Eyam Do !!!!! Well lets hope we can do the date they want in the summer Rio5 will return !!!
It took me back to when I was a teenager in the 70's, when I used to go to the Youth Club Disco! A few more wrinkles since then though. That syrup didn't half itch, and mullets didn't appear on the scene until the 80's. That there was a feather cut syrup.
Hey Albert, they are young men and what they get up to in the privacy of their own bedrooms (or public lav's) is up to them........ ;-) ha ha ha. I'd like to confirm that the YTS boys are fully paid up members of the hetrosexual club.
And anyway, Today we've had a message letting us know that we helped raise over £600 for Eyam Primary School... and it looks like we might be going back in the summer, bring on the sheep roast!
I liked those dressed as Pan's People, it brought back memories of the real Pan's People in the 70's.
I had a favourite, lovely "Babs".
I didn't know her name though!
The £600 is good news...personally speaking I thought it was the best gig so far...loads of stage room, full lighting, monster smoke, plenty of helping hands, good sound mix, good musicianship...what more can one ask for?..
A short story of a bloom and how to find one; a bloom is man who can’t get no love from me, no wait that’s a song, anyway back to the life of a bloom. A bloom is often found in a warm environment where socialising takes place. He can also be spotted wandering aimlessly around the streets late at night trying to find fresh meat. if however you do come across a fellow bloom and you perceive his mood to be one of unhappy and distressed one then I advise you do not indecently expose your rear end as this as found on previous occasions only enrages him further, do not be fooled by his small bodily structure and his charming good looks, like most creatures its the small cute ones that cause the most damage.. his bite is definitely worse than his bark ;) always be prepared to spend well earned cash on a bloom if you have the privilege of spending time with him as although he does have cash his arms are very short and h finds it very difficult to stretch to the bottom of his pockets.. NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE MAGICAL POWERS OF A BLOOM-- ESPECIALLY WHEN PLACE AT THE REAR OF LARGE SWEATY MEN WITH A KEY BOARD- HIS MUSICAL TALLENT CAN BLOW........ YOU’RE MIND. ALL THE BEST TO RIO 5 AND A BUSY 2007. THE GOODLOOKING FINE SPECIMIN THAT ATTEND MOST GIGS! XX
